I’ve heard many referring to the Macedonian capital as “the quirkiest European city”. That’s one way to put it.
Honestly, I’d rather say the city is just an urban weirdo. And don’t take it as an insult. Actually I really enjoyed my time in the place. I can’t imagine living there, but I think I would like to return to explore more thoroughly.
Also, I’m sure there is even more statues to photograph every year. This might be one of the reasons to go. Another one could be brutalism and concrete that is ubiquitous in some parts of the city, the Main Post Office building being its most known symbol.
Skopje isn’t pretty, but it definitely is intriguing. In many ways intriguing is better than pretty, so take it as a tip.
Thank you for exploring Skopje with me!
